All Lexis Hotels & Resorts to Phase Out Plastic Straw Usage

News 2020 - Phase Out Plastic Straw Usage | Lexis Hibiscus® Port Dickson

Single-use, non-recyclable plastic straws play a major part in polluting our land and waterways, while endangering our land and ocean creatures. To play our part in reducing ecological footprints and providing more sustainable alternatives to save our sea creatures and their habitat, Lexis Hotel Group has taken the drastic measure of renouncing plastic straws from all its properties, and has completely moved to biodegradable straws as the first step towards completely eradicating harmful plastic use and pollution.

In place of non-biodegradable plastic straws, guests who visit these Lexis hotels and resorts will be provided with 100% biodegradable and compostable polylactic acid (PLA) straws made from corn starch and oil. These biodegradable straws look and feel the same as plastic, and hold up just as well. The key difference is that instead of taking up to 200 years to decompose, a biodegradable straw can decompose in as fast as 2 to 3 months.
